Our two primary distractions are sex and money. They are powerful because they tap into the widely accepted illusions of what help us survive. Two paths to evolving beyond these illusions are rejecting them or "wearing them out." In rejection, we may not even experience satiation in these areas and realize that we are no longer interested in searching for peace in an illusion. In "wearing them out" we find ourselves going through the illusions, attempting to find satiation in the realms of great wealth and abundant sexuality. Regardless of which path we choose, they both lead to the same understanding. It is of the ego to believe that one path is better than the other. It is also important to realize that saying that you are ready to reject something that is an illusion is different than being ready to reject it. The process of rejection is often an illusory attempt to be "a good person" before having fully explored the illusion and understanding it fully so as to be able to help others with understanding their illusions. The process of going through these illusions and wearing them out tends to be more of a gradual process. Many people who define themselves as "spiritually-focused" attempt to rush through the process of learning experientially and skip ahead to rejection of all they have cognitively learned as not real. They thus spend most of their journey suffering because they are not willing to be where they are truly at. The ego is tricky, and it will use spirituality against you to fool you into believing that the spiritual path leads to greater suffering than the path of unconsciousness. This can be remedied by seeing clearly and accepting where you are on the path. If you are still drawn to illusions, don't put on blinders for what you attempt to transcend in this method will forever haunt you. Go into your distractions to understand them more fully. In this approach they lose their "charge" whereas closing your eyes gives illusions greater power to control you.
